"SIMPLE BEAUTY"

July, 13 2005
I have written songs to my mom's poetry
and prose over the years, and
would occasionally present it to her for Mother's Day.
After several years we had a collection of songs
we were enjoying one day in our family store.

Muff's Antiques and Restoration Hardware

A couple from Laguna, CA asked about the music they were listening to.
They said they enjoyed it and asked for a copy.
We sent them an autographed CD-R bootleg
a few days later.

I think this song was playing
when they spoke up...

Let's go back to the old-fashioned ways,

The long quiet days, the long quiet nights
The flying of kites, the dim city lights,
The Simple Beauty  Let's go back to the old-fashioned ways
The long peaceful walks, the long quiet talks
Walks in the rain, enjoying the whistle of the train's
a Simple Beauty

Not too busy to care, not too busy to share
Not too busy to sit and dream

I'll take the old-fashioned ways
I'll take the old-fashioned days

The love that stays,
The Simple Beauty

Let's go back to the old-fashioned ways,
The pride of hard work and rolled-up sleeves
The joy of the smell of the burning leaves The meeting of our friends and clan
Sunday picnic food all planned
The simple holding of the hand
While listening to the Sunday band

Not too busy to care, not too busy to share

Not too busy to sit and dream
I'll take the  old-fashioned ways
I'll take the old-fashioned days

The love that stays, The Simple Beauty.
