The Dynamic Duo
Jim Newby and Skip Hahn

I played guitar  and Jim played drums.
He seemed to know what to do, so I just followed him. He was and still is a very talented musician, and even in those days, a skilled graphic artist (now professional).

This was my first band experience, as I was still taking monthly guitar lessons.

We wrote a couple of surf instrumentals, played a song at our Junior High assembly
with Jim doing his trainroll on a snare drum,
and me plunking out a simple surf melody,  it was a wondrous new world. Jim continued to work with me for a few years.

I didn't start playing drums till I was 16, but Jim definitely inspired me to try different instruments.

He had this idea to wear suits, and pose like the Beatles.

Eventually,
we met more musicians,
and Jim  moved to bass,
as we
rehearsed under a couple bandnames.
The Laurels  The Lemons , then there were The Monacles which became the most successful, working at teen centers, marine bases, UA Theaters...
Since then, we jammed at a Superbowl party at Brian  Bevilaqua's. (Roadhouse)
Jim moved with his family to Oregon.
