I
played guitar and Jim played
drums. He seemed to know what to do, so I just followed him. He was and still is a very talented musician, and even in those days, a skilled graphic artist (now professional). This was my first band experience, as I was still taking monthly guitar lessons. We wrote a couple of surf instrumentals, played a song at our Junior High assembly with Jim doing his trainroll on a snare drum, and me plunking out a simple surf melody, it was a wondrous new world. Jim continued to work with me for a few years. I didn't start playing drums till I was 16, but Jim definitely inspired me to try different instruments. He had this idea to wear suits, and pose like the Beatles. |

Eventually,
we met more musicians, and Jim moved to bass, as we rehearsed under a couple bandnames. The Laurels The Lemons , then there were The Monacles which became the most successful, working at teen centers, marine bases, UA Theaters... Since
then, we jammed at a Superbowl party
at Brian Bevilaqua's. (Roadhouse)
Jim moved with his family to Oregon. |
